Tampa, Fla. ? (June 26, 2012) ? The University Area Community Development Corporation, Inc. (UACDC) took top honors for the second year as the winner in the ?Public and Societal Benefit? category at the 2012 Tampa Bay Business Journal Nonprofit of the Year Awards. The event was held June 21 at the A La Carte Event Pavilion where winners were recognized in seven categories among 37 finalists.

?

?This award is about more than just accolades on paper. It means that highly regarded business leaders recognize that UACDC sets a high standard for providing life-changing programs in an effective, accountable and fiscally responsible way,? said Dan Jurman, UACDC executive director and CEO. ?We understand the many challenges today?s nonprofits face and congratulate all the finalists and winners for their hard work in the Tampa Bay community. We also want to thank the dozens of non-profits, for-profit businesses and government agencies that partner with us every day to Make it Happen.?

?

The Tampa Bay Business Journal created these awards to promote transparency and accountability among area nonprofits. The awards honor outstanding organizations that not only provide important services, but also demonstrate financially sound practices.

?

?We?re honored to have received this award for the second year as the UACDC continues to do more with less as we maintain innovative and unparalleled programs that produce proven results,? said Commissioner Victor D. Crist, UACDC Chairman of the Board. ?As we help people become self-sufficient, we?re accomplishing our mission with minimal resources.?

?

The UACDC provides the opportunities and resources to meet the needs of the adults and youth of the blighted University Area Community.
